Abbey Davison
Hannah Ewing
Abbey joined Linwood College 21 months ago straight from New Zealand Graduate School. She spent 3 terms honing her teaching skills in the English department before joining the Social Studies Department in 2019. Abbey has been an outstanding teacher and organiser. She has led students from Years 7 to 12 in how to write TEXAS paragraphs, how to make an inquiry, the importance of looking after our environment, as well as many other topics.
Abbey has been an outstanding colleague. She has worked collaboratively to develop unit plans, run sports teams, organise extra
curricular events and generally support her colleagues. We have always known that Abbey has been there to support us, for this we thank you.
We thank Abbey for the extra hours beyond the normal work load she has put in. Abbey has organised cross curricula trips to Orana Park, supervised badminton teams and organised the senior formal two years running. The formal at Twiggers has been a huge undertaking working with our senior students to make sure the theme is correct, the DJ is appropriate and the photo booth is in the correct place.
Abbey, we thank you for all the hard work you have put in for Linwood College and its students, it is hugely appreciated and we wish you all the best in your next endeavour.
Hannah joined Linwood College at the start of 2019 from Hillmorton High School. Hannah was recruited for the Social Studies Department but when everyone heard of her wide range of talents and skills the PE Department and Science Department came calling.
Hannah has taught Social Sciences, Science and PE this year and has been an inspiration to her students. She brought her wide range of interests of bee keeping, love of the outdoors, sports and passion for the environment into the
classroom. Her genuine concern and care for her students has shown through, in her down to earth and passionate lessons.
Hannah has been a House Coordinator this year and has led the different houses in inter house competitions. Hannah will be remembered for her passion and never ending smile and of course, the spelling bee.
We thank you Hannah for everything you have given to Linwood College and wish all the best for the future.
Stephen Dickson
Nicole Huxtable
Nicole started at our school in January 2017 having 7Ros as a mentor class and teaching them for Social Studies, Mathematics and English. In 2018, Nicole taught Year 9 Mathematics and 8Ros for Mathematics and English. During that year Nicole developed English assessments and made Mathematics units with Carol Butel from the University of Canterbury. Nicole also created and implemented the Wā Whakanui with all Year 7 and 8 learners. In Terms 3 and 4, Nicole became a
Year 10 Dean. This year, Nicole has been the Waiporoporo House Dean and the Mathematics teacher for 7E and 7C.
Nicole and her husband have made a lifestyle choice to move out to Kaiapoi and Nicole has secured a job at Leithfield School where she will be the teacher in charge of mathematics. Nicole has such a huge personalilty and a big heart for our learners. She will be sorely missed by staff, learners and whānau. We would like to wish Nicole all the best for her future life, both personally and professionally. In the spirit of professional learning communities, we hope to stay in contact and keep learning from each other.
Aroha nui.
Stephen joined our Mathematics and Statistics Learning Area team at the beginning of 2017. At the end of Term 2 Stephen left our school to take up a position at Hagley Community College. As a Mathematics specialist Stephen taught a lot of our senior learners in his time at our school. At a Learning Area level, he also helped the running of the e-asTTle assessments in our junior school. We wish Stephen all the best for his future endeavours.
Erin Wilkinson
Erin started in June 2016 in both the Mathematics and Science Learning Areas and she quickly joined the PB4L committee and helped out with the school choir. In 2016 she managed a volleyball team in term 4. In 2017 Erin became a permanent Mathematics teacher and took on a role with Jesse Harding of developing school leaders including the house leaders for that year. During 2017 Erin was Assistant HoLA to Kerrin Muddle in the Mathematics Learning Area. Erin took on the organisation of staff social functions including the Christmas functions for 2017 and 2018. In 2018 she also was a driver for hockey.
Erin went on maternity leave towards the end of 2018 and had her adorable baby boy Cooper. This year Erin decided to devote her energies to raising a family and resigned from her teaching position at the end of term 3. We wish Erin and her whānau all the best for their future and we hope to see her working with our learners again.
Sarah Mackintosh
Sarah joined our Mathematics and Statistics Learning Area team for the whole of term 3 this year. As an experienced educator, Sarah was an effective practitioner with our learners in 10R and 11MATA(MAC). Sarah finished up working at our school at the end of term 3 as she was expecting her third child. We wish Sarah all the best for her future and we hope to see her working with our learners again
Brian Johnson
Brian started teaching DVC in the Technology area in 2019. He has been a real asset to the department and will be missed by students and staff alike.
All the best for the future form the staff in the Tech Department.
Jinky Knowler
Jinky joined our Mathematics and Statistics Learning Area team at the beginning of term 3 this year. In this past half year, Jinky has shown an unwavering commitment to improving the mathematical skills of our learners in 7H, 10C, 10R and 11MAT(KNO). Jinky was pivotal in the running of the Pythagoras and Possums programme through Manaaki Whenua - Landcare Research.
Jinky’s learners have been fortunate to benefit from her passion and
expertise in effective e-learning. We wish Jinky all the best for her future and we hope to see her working with our learners again.
Annette Milne
At the end of 2018, we said goodbye to Annette Milne for one year, who after many years at the school, in a variety of roles, took a position as a RTLB (Resource Teacher, Learning and Behaviour) outside of the school. She has now decided to make this permanent, so we officially farewell her and wish her well.
Satbir Singh
Satbir joined Linwood College at the start of Term 2 in 2018 in time to take on some Year 11 and 12 Physics students, as well as junior Science and Maths classes. Over the time he has been with us he has developed strong learning relationships with both his students and colleagues. The time and energy he has put into planning and delivering his lessons is reflected in the respect he is held in by his students. His humour, laughter and support will be missed in the Science teachers workroom. Everyone at Linwood College wishes Satbir and his wife all the best for their future on their return to Fiji.
Nicole Kilbride
It is with sadness that we say goodbye to Nicole Kilbride from the English department. Nicole came to us from Ashburton College at the beginning of 2019 and straight away proved herself to be a highly effective and engaging teacher. Nicole’s care and consideration towards her students was always appreciated and for this, she will be greatly missed. Good luck Miss Kilbride, the English department and LCŌ will miss you!

Rosanna Katene
Lena Tuiloma
I'm going on study leave after being awarded a TeachNZ study grant. This means I have been given 32 weeks off from teaching, to study full time. I'll be studying through the University of Canterbury and look forward to learning more about education leadership. I'll be back in term 4, 2020.
Rosanna Katene
Lena is on study leave until term 4 next year. She will also be studying at University of Canterbury completing her Masters of Education endorsed in Specialised Inclusive Education. We wish her well.
