First Foundation supports bright young Kiwis whose circumstances may make it harder to attend university – giving them financial assistance, paid work experience and a dedicated mentor. The four-year programme, worth $22,000 in total, helps scholars to navigate from school, through higher education and into a meaningful career. To become a First Foundation scholar, students need to apply, demonstrating their academic and leadership credentials. They are then shortlisted to go through a rigorous interview process with First Foundation and then with the scholarship partner themselves. In 2020, First Foundation received over 200 applications, and will award around 45 scholarships throughout Aotearoa. Those selected have proven themselves to be academically talented and worthy of support.
