PTA Service Cup for Outstanding Service to the College

Annamarie has been a peer mentor and role model for younger students. She has helped with events such as Pink Shirt Day and led the Polyfest performance and organization of the Fiafia evening while also representing the school in sporting events. She is also a prefect. Annamarie has demonstrated tremendous service to Linwood College throughout the entire year.

The Rob Burrough Cup for Demonstration of School Values and contributing to the wider school 

Syntori and Paul both demonstrate the Linwood College school values consistently each day. They have demonstrated academic excellence and curiosity in their learning. Students at Linwood College look up to these role-models for their honesty, respect, and care towards others. They give service by representing our kura through sports or cultural performances. Both of these learners are tremendous leaders and we look forward to seeing what they can achieve next year.

25th Anniversary Commemorative Prize

The next recipient while being at Linwood College, has consistently been involved in an array of activities. Jessica has been a worker in the school canteen, she is a prefect, a peer support mentor and consistently looking for ways to support students and events such as Pink Shirt Day. She is well known to all staff members and has given so much of herself to this school.

The IP Anderson Award for Leadership 

Jessa has demonstrated leadership in many ways throughout the year. She has been a peer mentor, house leader and is always looking at opportunities to help develop leadership and give back to the school. She is a leader within her sports team and consistently demonstrates the school values. 

 

Blake Stiles

Prime Minister's Vocational Excellence Award 

This award recognises excellence in vocational training, and highlights the importance of trades training in Aotearoa. The Prime Minister's Vocational Excellence Award goes to Blake Stiles who has not only excelled in his construction courses at school and at the Ara Institute of Technology on the Dual Enrolment programme, but has also been offered a full-time apprenticeship with a great local company, John Garlick Builders, through our Gateway programme. This award also comes with a cash prize of $2,000 for Blake to use on starting out on his career in the construction industry.

UC Māpura Bright Start Scholarship 

The UC Māpura Bright Start Scholarship is for tuition and compulsory enrolment fees at the University of Canterbury.

The University of Canterbury Alumni Scholarship is valued at $5,000.

The UC Hiranga Scholarship is valued at $5,000.

 

Phoenix Evans

2020 First Foundation Scholarship

First Foundation supports bright young Kiwis whose circumstances may make it harder to attend university – giving them financial assistance, paid work experience and a dedicated mentor. The four-year programme, worth $22,000 in total, helps scholars to navigate from school, through higher education and into a meaningful career. To become a First Foundation scholar, students need to apply, demonstrating their academic and leadership credentials. They are then shortlisted to go through a rigorous interview process with First Foundation and then with the scholarship partner themselves. In 2020,  First Foundation received over 200 applications, and will award around 45 scholarships throughout Aotearoa. Those selected have proven themselves to be academically talented and worthy of support.

Orion gained an overall Excellence endorsement at NCEA Level 1. He also has a large number of Merit and Excellence credits at Level 3.

Dux (awarded to our top academic student)

Mario gained an Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 1 that included three subject endorsements at Merit and three subject endorsements at Excellence. He also had an Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 2 that included two subject endorsements at Merit and three subject endorsements at Excellence. He is currently on track for an overall Excellence endorsement for NCEA Level 3.
