PTA Service Cup for Outstanding Service to the College

The recipient of tonight’s award has demonstrated outstanding service throughout all their years at Linwood College. Involved in all areas of the school from their first year at Linwood in Year 7, this student is dedicated to the school and community. This is both quietly in the background and in more public roles when this is required. Some of this service has been: Open Days, peer mentor, barista, canteen staff, assisting at Yr 7-8 camps, house leader from Yrs 7 to 12 and organising the recent Leavers' Dinner. They have lived and breathed service to the school and community

Sophie Watson

The Rob Burrough Cup for Demonstration of School Values and contributing to the wider school

Here at Linwood College at Ōtākaro we endeavour to encourage the principal values of Manawa Reka (curiosity), Whakaute (respect), Manaakitanga (service), Whakapono (honesty) and Hiranga (excellence). The recipient of the Rob Burrough Cup is a student that we feel has embodied these values consistently throughout the year. Our awardee has demonstrated academic excellence and curiosity in their learning, and we can see how other students at Linwood College at Ōtākaro look up to this student for their whakapono, whakaute, and care towards others. This learner is a tremendous achiever and leader, and we look forward to seeing what they can accomplish next year.

Maansi Dewan

The Prime Minister's Vocational Excellence Award goes to Maansi Dewan, who has excelled in her work placement and training work through Careerforce. Maansi has consistently demonstrated commitment and maturity, and we wish her well for her future. This award also comes with a cash prize of $2000 for Maansi to use on supporting her career development.

Supreme Awards

Phoenix Evans and Daniel Nieuwenhuize

25th Anniversary Commemorative Prizes – male

Awarded to students who have contributed to a wide, valuable and lasting impression upon their kura and community. This year we have dual-recipients for the male award. These students, throughout their time here at Linwood College at Ōtākaro, have been involved in a number of leadership roles, scholarships, extra-curricular groups and peer mentoring-support while also representing their fellow students as prefects this year. Each student has dedicated themselves to be a tremendous role-model, in and outside the classroom, and they will both leave a lasting impression upon our school.

Dipal Narayan

25th Anniversary Commemorative Prizes – female

The recipient of tonight’s female award has demonstrated outstanding leadership to the school and community throughout all their years at Linwood College. This leadership has made a lasting impression on all of us. This student is committed to helping others and has excellent leadership and  organisational skills to put this commitment into practice, even in tricky Covid times. Truly selfless in their giving of their time and energy to so many people and to so many community-enhancing activities, they are an example and role-model to us, students and staff.

Ranalia Savelio

Judith Brailsford Cup for Pacifica Leadership

This student has been a tremendous asset to Pasifika culture at Linwood College since they were Year 9. They have represented Linwood College in Polyfest every year, they have been a mentor to all Pasifika students due to the positive nature and strong work ethic they display. This year, they stepped into a key leadership role as a Pasifika Leader and Polyfest leader and grew so much from this. They

led from the front at each practice, were calm and respectful at all times and became a safe person for people to go to for support. This learner is not only a leader for our Pasifika students but all students at Linwood College. Through being a prefect and Pasifika leader, they were acknowledged at the first annual Learning Community Hubs Ōtautahi leadership evening and the SPACPAC Supreme Awards evening for not only leadership but also academic achievement to a high level. They also give so much to the Pasifika community outside of school through church and being in Tama Mai Saute's very best girls group for Pasifika Performance. For 5 years they have given so much to Pasifika Culture at Linwood College. She will be missed, as will her leadership. A truly deserving recipient of this award.

Ranalia Savelio

The IP Anderson Award for Leadership

The recipient of this award has demonstrated leadership in many ways throughout the year. They have been a Prefect, Pasifika Leader, Polyfest Leader, and are consistently a role model for her peers and younger students. This student demonstrates the school values each day. This student has been an inspiration to others since the day she started at Linwood College. Over this time her leadership has been apparent academically, culturally, and through sports and the local community. This student's leadership is unquestioned and the teachers of Linwood College are blown away with how fantastic a leader they have become.
