Year 9 Catapult Integrated Class With Miss Silvester And Mr Manuel

mc2.PNG

This course involved students building working catapults out of popsicle sticks, rubber bands, and a bottle cap. They used skills from Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) to improve on their first prototype and test their designs. They found the average distance their catapult could fire a marble to hit a foam block wall. The students also made a small missile to try and pop a balloon 20 cm high.

The groups of students summarised their work during the term by making bar graphs and pie charts in Canva. Another fun project was using Education Minecraft to either replicate a castle wall, or their own catapult. This was a great way to show their creativity skills and extend their work in the classroom. All tasks enhanced students' participation and communication skills.

It was a great year working with an awesome bunch of students.
