This student is extremely reliable and willing to partake and help out with all school events. He is hardworking and motivated to participate in making sure that events run. He is a valued and important member of the performing arts. This student is always available to help when needed for all last minute things and is ready before you can even ask him to be. He loves getting involved and being helpful, works hard in class, has an amazing ability to stay on task and has unique ideas.

Ashlin Chandra

PTA Service Cup for Outstanding Service to the College

This student is a valued school prefect, Deputy Head Student, and re-elected student trustee on our Board. These two roles – and there are many others as well - are a culmination of her selfless and principled contribution to school life.

Of note is her role as the student trustee on the Board through our total school rebuild, our being off-site for three years, our change of school uniform and many other challenges. She is mature beyond her years and has shown outstanding service to our school and our wider community.

Stella Derham

The Rob Burrough Cup for Demonstration of School Values and contributing to the wider school

Here at Te Aratai College we endeavour to encourage the principal values of Manaakitanga, Whanaungatanga, Rangatiratanga, and Turangawaewae.

The recipient of the Rob Burrough Cup is a student that we feel has embodied these values consistently throughout the year.

This student is a natural born leader and is particularly highly involved in music and sports. She is currently the leader of Te Aratai Jazz band where she plays bass and sings. Performances include local venues, South Island competitions in band, choir and acoustic duos and lots of formal occasions including Te Aratai prize giving and special appearances for our Prime Minister. She has been awarded MVP in netball and part of 4 sports teams and had numerous performances at school and in the wider community through her love for music. She has been house leader in both Year 9 and currently in Year 12 she is receiving her bronze and silver awards in Duke of Edinburgh and currently working towards gold. She is always dependable, helpful and passionate about our school and its values.
