Years 9 and 10 students coded in Scratch and Tinkercad, and created 3D designs of their dream bedroom and their perfect classroom in Tinkercad. Some also joined electronic components in the virtual world.

Food And Hospitality

This year due to the popularity of the Level 1 Hospitality class we decided to have a cook off to see the talents of our students. Our aim was to see which student had the passion and the skills to get the prize as top student across the two classes we had running. Our students produced vakalolo, kokoda and banana bread during this challenge and we saw some great results!

Digital Technologies

In Years 7 and 8 Digital Technologies we designed and coded parkour games in a 3D environment called Cospaces.

Robotics

Will robots rule our world? Not likely, but smart kids might!

2022, another positive year in Robotics Class at TATC, with our Year 7 and 8 students really getting stuck into designing, building and programming their Lego EV3 robots.

This year we focused on brushing up on the essentials of computational thinking. One particular focus is breaking down a problem to its simplest form, then writing simple code that fits this outline. Better

laptops have helped and a lab of desktop PCs has meant better computer access for everyone.

Battle-bots are still on the menu and students constantly impress with how they really get stuck into this project with much drive and gusto. Another favourite is the line following robot. Highly relevant with self-driving cars just around the corner. It seems kids really are natural innovators who love the challenge of using technology to solve real problems in our world. Oh, and they like to have a bit of fun.
